Description
TITLE:
Development Associate
REPORTS TO:
Director of Development
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Development Associate
(Associate) is responsible for providing fundraising and
administrative support to the Director of Development as it
relates to planning and implementation of the shelter’s
strategic Development Plan. Primary responsibilities include
special events planning and implementation, donor recognition
and public relations activities related to development efforts.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Working with shelter staff,
volunteers and the Board of Directors, plan and implement
and attend all fundraising-related special events, including
the Annual Dinner and Auction.

Assume primary responsibility
for the creation, production and distribution of quarterly
Pawprints newsletter and shelter fundraising
solicitations.

Implement donor recognition program that includes written
correspondence, personal contact and awards as appropriate.

Assist the Director of
Development and the Finance Committee in creation and
management of annual budget as it pertains to development.

Work with the Board,
Executive Director, other staff as necessary and outside
resources to create a universal message that positions
Anderson Animal Shelter as a leader in the humane field in
our community.

Communicate clearly to
stakeholders, especially Board and donors, the Shelter’s
need for support and use of private funding for program
enhancement. This includes creating and contributing to
Shelter publications.

As needed, serve as a member
of the Development Committee, working with Board members,
Executive Director and volunteers to coordinate efforts,
strategize work and effectively plan and meet goals for the
organization.

Provide other administrative
assistance to shelter staff as needed.

Represent Anderson Animal
Shelter in the community in a manner that is consistent with
the organization’s mission and values.
Requirements:

Must have demonstrated
success planning, promoting and implementing special events.

Must be able to synthesize
complex ideas into a coherent message for both internal and
external audiences.

Must be able to quickly
absorb and discern complex issues, make principled judgments
in a variety of situations and act decisively under
stressful conditions.

Must possess exceptional
written and verbal communication skills.

Should demonstrate strong
administrative skills, an ability to thrive in a relaxed,
yet professional workplace, and a willingness to be part of
a diverse work team.

Must be self-motivated,
flexible, highly organized and driven to succeed.

Must be proficient in
Microsoft Office products. Experience with Sage fundraising
software a plus.

Knowledge of animal
sheltering issues and passion for animal welfare issues will
be considered a plus.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift a minimum of
50 pounds. May be required to lift heavier loads with the
assistance of another person or implement. Work that is
performed both in and out of the shelter may require lifting,
bending, stooping, pushing and other moderately strenuous
activities.
The Development Associate
position is a permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) position.
Starting salary for the job is $14.00. As a part-time position,
the job does not offer benefits. Interested applicants should
